The August Adventure - Why?

"The August Adventure" blog has been created in order to convince members of my family and some friends to accompany me on a cycle trip through Belgium and Holland.

We would start in Lille and through a series of 70km legs, eventually make it to the ferry port in Hook of Holland. I would not expect anybody to do ten 70km legs in a row, so the rythm is three days on and one day off. That way the whole trip would take us two weeks. Which may seem long, but is still possible even for the beginning cyclist.

So here is the basic premise:
- London St. Pancras to Lille International by Eurostar. We would then spend the night in Lille and start off the next morning.
- Three legs of 70km per day for three days.
- One day off.
- Repeat until we make it to the Ferry Port, Hook of Holland, The Netherlands.
- Ferry from Hook of Holland, The Netherlands to Harwich, England.
- Then for the last train, Harwich to London Liverpool Street Station.
The End

That is the basic structure of things. The posts will be maps of each leg, proposals for places to stay and, maybe, even some nice pictures.

Fingers crossed.
